Housing and Urban Development: Comprehensive Housing Affordability Strategy (CHAS)

Description:

The department of Housing and Urban Development’s Comprehensive Housing Affordability Strategy (CHAS) data helps to determine the number of households in need of housing assistance. This is done by using the number of households that have specific housing problems and have low incomes that qualify for HUD programs, Typically these incomes fall between 30%, 50% or 80% of median income. The CHAS data also helps provide information related to housing issues that affect households such as the elderly, disabled, and minorities in specific geographies. For more background on CHAS data please visit HUD’s web page: http://www.huduser.org/portal/datasets/cp/CHAS/bg_chas.html
